Mac Browsers and Firefox Extensions

Most people will just stick to Safari when they buy a Mac but there are other alternatives. I recently posted on the Safari 4 beta, it is still my browser of choice but the new tab interface is quite hard to get used to. So if you want to try something different what alternatives are there? The Apple Blog has a good post on the options. Here is a list of the main ones:

  1. Firefox
  2. Camino
  3. Shiira
  4. Omniweb
  5. Sunrise
  6. Flock
  7. Opera
  8. iCab

The odd man out is Google Chrome which is still not officially available for Mac but should be soon.

Despite all these choices I tend to stick with Safari to keep my Apple universe tied together. Particularly to keep the bookmarks synced with my iPhone. The post here explains how this works.

But I have started using Firefox more because it allows my to tie together my Mac and Linux browsing. Firefox is also super usable because of the extensions available. This is what I use:

  1. Delicious toolbar
  2. Firebug (for web development)
  3. Foxmarks (to sync my permanent bookmarks)
  4. Google toolbar
  5. Scribefire (for blogging)

All these can be found on the Mozilla website.
